Cream and Coco Hair & Skin Care

I was introduced to this brand in my Curl Kit, but I never took the time out to visit the website or use the product. A few months ago I joined a wonderful group of ladies on Facebook, who were raving about this Artesian Handmade Natural Soap. I was not sure what this meant, natural soap? Huh? How can soap be natural, I was very uninformed and unaware. At first I was skeptical, because it is in my nature to look at things from multiple perspectives, so I decided I would try the soaps on my own.

My very first order consisted of (1) Coconut Macaroon, (1) Pumpkin Souffle, and one other Chocolate Cream filled Peppermint Patty, I was not able to try because it was taken hostage. The Pumpkin Souffle smelled amazing and the coconut macaroon smelled nice as well. But my fave was definitely the Pumpkin Souffle. At first use I loved the scent and lather. But, I was a little thrown off when I stepped out the shower and the smell did not linger, as my usual  unnatural soaps. I continued to use my soaps from Cream and Coco. I was disappointed about the scent not lingering, so I wrote natural soaps off my list.

Well, recently I decided to give Cream and Coco soaps another try, because of the awesome feedback from the ladies in the Facebook group. I ordered my fave Pumpkin Souffle, Chocolate Creamed filled Peppermint patty (AMAZE-BALLS), Raspberry Tea & Lemonade (Limited edition), and a few others. These here though are my favorite soaps from Cream and Coco.

The Glaze tinctures are really impressive and definitely worth 2-3 bottles at 1st purchase. The scents are amazing, the silky smooth feel, and the supple skin results are all reasons why I would absolutely re-purchase from www.creamandcoco.com I recently purchased the Tibetan Orchid and the scent is really soft and light. It's about to be empty, because I use it and my family uses it a lot!

Cream and Coco prices are very reasonable and inexpensive, but the products are definitely worth trying at least twice!

But wait...Cream and Coco also makes hair products as well!! I have used the Curls for Days Hair pudding and for my hair, the smell is wonderful, it reminds me of Starburst. I used it for my daughters hair and her hair LOVES it. I also gave a container to my nieces and they want more too. My hair did not love the product, but I only used it once and will definitely use it once again in a different method.

Announcement : Winner Announced!

I am very thankful for all the entries and want to really emphasize, my gratitude.

Post #Electrolux Live Stream

After watching the different chefs take their own uniqueness to the different stoves, I am highly impressed with the Induction Stove, Electrolux. The different dishes were extremely appetizing. Below is a link  for you to watch the actual LIVE STREAM event.

Live Stream for ElectroLux

I would love to own an Electrolux stove top of my own...It's definitely made of high top quality and is different in a variety of ways. The Induction Stove does not need to be pre-heated, which is a plus when you need to make something quick and easy like many of us Super hero moms. I was amazed by the fact you can touch the induction stove top and not worry about BURNING yourself...Now that is amazing and is important for any parent.

How do YOU feel about the Electrolux Stove top? Do you wish you had one? Comment Below, please feel free to share and +1

Cream and Coco Skincare - September Hot Coco Box

Amazed!!!

Cream and Coco Skincare ~ September Hot Coco Box

Price: $25
Products:
8oz Night Blooming Jasmine Primrose Tincture,
6oz Night Phlox & Yucca Creme Anglaise,
4oz Moonflower Milkshake detangling spray,
2oz Hazelnut Latte Coffee Butter
& a snack sized Dragonfruit Artisan soap.
Total value of the box was $51!

The Night Blooming Jasmine Primrose Tincture feels just as smooth and silky as Cream and Coco signature glaze tinctures. The smell reminds me of a light floral jasmine scent. The tincture is not heavy at all, it goes onto the skin very smooth and easily. I really love these tinctures by Cream and Coco.

The Night Phlox & Yucca Creme Anglaise is truly a blessing! I used it to shave with and my skin felt so freaking smooth and soft. I really love the lather from this product. I did not expect this from the product, but it was definitely doing wonderful things for my skin. The smell is awesome, its not strong and overpowering at all.

THE MOONFLOWER MILKSHAKE DETANGLING SPRAY is beyond amazing! I used this in my significant others hair, for moisturizing and to soften his hair before blowing his hair out. I also used this in MY hair and I used it as a moisturizer and sealed it in. I also used it in my daughters hair for moisturizing and styled her hair in a braid ( I only used the milkshake and grapeseed oil).

The Hazelnut Latte Coffee Butter is a very fragrant but not strong butter. The texture is grainy but smooth, because it has exfoliating properties. I have used this on my face, and it is NOT greasy or heavy. I also use it for my son's face and hair. My significant other uses it as well for all over body butter.

The Dragon fruit Artesian soap smelled so GOOOD...I wanted to eat the soap, lol. But I refrained from tasting it, unlike the coffee butter...Anyway the soap lathered very nicely and left my skin feeling really smooth. The texture was soft and pliable.

Summary: This box was amazing and definitely has me excited for the upcoming Birthday Box for October!!

The November box is on sale: $20 www.creamandcoco.com

Box Color...Damaging? Not natural anymore??

Recently, I decided to color my hair...well, a few weeks ago. The color I was wanting was not this particular color, but I was willing to try it out, just because I wanted to color my hair. I also figured I could just use a rinse after the color if I was not pleased. Therefore I colored my hair!

You can check out my results on my Youtube channel

In order to care for my colored hair and low porosity hair, I use my heat therapy wrap for Hot Deep Conditions, as well as warming my oils before using. I also am finger detangling more often to lessen any excessive shedding and excessive breakage.  The Deep Conditioner I use varies from week to week, but my fave is Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque, Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Anti-Breakage Masque, and Blue Roze Beauty Cocoa-Coffee Rhassoul Mask.

I have not experienced any excessive shedding or breakage!

Thanks for taking the time to read. Please LEAVE A COMMENT Below!!! :-)

Dry Scalp...Could it be more?

On September 14th, 2013 I decided I would give my SCALP some specific TLC due to the excessive itching and crust like findings (extreme dry scalp). For the past few weeks, my scalp was itching like nobodies business, so of course I would go for search and destroy to stop the itching, but I would come across a little patch which felt like crust and it felt like it was a little lump. Well, I did not take the time to actually look on my scalp, I would pick the crust off my scalp and observe what it was, it was dry looking like dead skin. But I was not too sure what would cause this on my scalp. So a few weeks ago I went online and seen the different issues like Seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis.

After reading the different symptoms, I honestly believe I have Seborrheic Dermatitis and since the heat was on HIGH a lot during the past summer months, I was shampooing more frequently and oiling my scalp with JBCO (heavy oil). Different articles have had similar cures, stating not to overload the scalp with too much oil, because too much oil can allow the yeast to continue to grow. Seborrheic Dermatitis is not contagious and is a chronic skin disorder. It does NOT mean you are unclean or unhygienic.

When I remove the crust, it would not bleed but sometimes a hair may or may not be attached to it. However, I was able to use my Scalp Oil remedy ( Extra Virgin Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil, JBCO, and Tea Tree Oil) to alleviate the symptoms.

On Saturday I began with a Hot oil treatment which consisted of  massaging oils  into my scalp in small sections and carefully examining the areas with the crust on my scalp.  The warmness of the oils on my scalp felt soothing and pampering. I continued to oil my entire head and do some de-tangling.

Finally, I took a plastic cap and covered my head, then I used my Heat therapy wrap for 25 minutes just to give myself a deeper hot oil treatment. I allowed the oils to seep into my follicles by doing this as an overnight treatment.  The following day I mixed 2 tablespoons of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and 9 - 10 oz of water in a spray bottle (easier distribution) and clarified my scalp! I felt like I was in heaven...

Natural...changing lives beyond Hair Care!

Going Natural? .... No, Returning Natural! Yes!!

I decided to return natural indefinitely when my daughter started asking if she could get a relaxer like me. I don't know if many of you ladies have had that experience, but for me it just didn't feel right in my bones anymore to continue with relaxers. The process was not tiresome, but it was ENTERTAINMENT and INFATUATION for my baby girl that I did NOT find to be a benefit or value.

Going Natural changed my lifestyle in more ways than one, it helped me to discover and embrace myself and to learn how to love me. This choice helped to encourage my daughter to love herself and her heritage. She now asks for her hair to be out, curly, and twist-outs. Baby girl wants to Big Chop, but in my heart I know she is not ready, because when I trim her hair she has heart failure (figuratively speaking).

I would love to see her with a TWA, but when the time is ready. :-)

I personally have found myself wanting to eat differently, clean differently, and change my lifestyle completely because of being more informed of natural and organic alternatives. It's definitely a work in progress, but I can say I am dedicated to finding ways to incorporate a natural/organic lifestyle.

Update | Hair Regimen!! Season changes...

Good Morning!!!

I have been gone for awhile and needed time to re-focus and prioritize my life.
Along with prioritizing my life, my hair has been in simple protective styles; I have been practicing here and there. I want to master the 2-strand flat-twist, I just feel like I am handicap when it comes to getting the hair to twist correctly. But I do love the results, especially since I know I am giving my all to it.

I did 2-strand flat-twist on the side and medium twists in the back and small twists in the very front.

In this protective style I cornrowed the sides and twisted the remaining hair.

I love that protective styles fit me well and that they give me a chance to take a break from manipulating my hair. Now that the season is changing it calls for me to change my regimen. My regimen will consist of wearing my hair in Protective styles for 1 - 1 1/2 week(s). Pre-poo, Shampoo with a Sulfate free shampoo, condition, Deep Condition (this may come before the shampoo; varies), and then LOC Method. Lastly, back to a protective style. Twice or maybe three times a month I will Co-wash, therefore I will not Pre-poo, but will deep condition.

The products I received were new to me, except the Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream, I purchased a 16oz jar a while back. I used the JC for my twist and for my daughters twist, the cream really helped combat frizz, and helped define my twist out. My daughters twist was not weighed down or greasy. I like the Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream and would re-purchase.

I used the SDot Beauty Softly & Tenderly Deep Conditioner!

Scent: Fruity (Starburst Fruit Punch), but not at all overwhelming and did not linger for long.

Consistency: rich & creamy like rice pudding

The conditioner went on my hair smoothly, and my hair absorbed the conditioner pretty fast. I was impressed with the results and would definitely love to use it again.

This Hair subscription box is a nice box for naturals new & old, the variety of products and support of small and large businesses is wonderful. I'd recommend this box to a curl friend.

Checking your Hair tools! Have You?

Checking your hair tools is very important during your healthy hair journey; whether relaxed or natural. Using any tools including your fingers can cause damage if you aren't paying close attention! Why? Your finger nails...hang nails, chipped nails, or anything that your hair can hook onto on your fingers can cause unnecessary breakage, which results in poor length retention and unhealthy hair.

Using wide tooth combs can cause unnecessary hair breakage and damage because of all the stress being put onto the hair strand, therefore we already have 1 strike against us...But using tools with a seam can cause more damage.

Checking to make sure the tool YOU are using does not have any areas to snag onto your hair is very important. I was checking my good ole wide tooth comb I love so much and noticed where the pretty painted teeth were, the paint had begun chipping away, leaving small areas with potential to snag onto my kinky coily tresses. I tossed it!

Then, I checked my knock off Denman (conair brush) and noticed the red rubber was begin to get too flexible and cracking...Needless to say "Tossed it."

I went and checked all my tools and noticed most of them needed to go! I had received a curl mart wide tooth comb and immediately after 4-6 uses noticed the teeth paint was chipping away. Gone!

These are a few of the NEW tools I have purchased to detangle and style my hair:

Using tools in my Healthy Natural Hair Journey is a choice I am pleased with and will continue to use.

                                              Thanks for stopping by!

~Cocoa-Coffe Rhassoul Hair Mask~ BlueRozeBeauty

Wonderful...Yummy...Works!!

These three words are an understatement of how extravagant this product truly is, I had the awesome opportunity of trying this product. I WON this product in a giveaway from the owner of Blue Roze Beauty. I received an 8 ounce jar of yummy-ness.
First off the product looks like a dessert, smells like a scrumptious dessert, and made my hair feel uber soft!
Before using this Rhassoul hair mask, I had not used any. So, I didn't have any expectations, but I did have some assumptions of hair masks.
I thought a hair mask would strip my hair of oils, impurities, and the goodness in which I moisturize and seal my hair, BUT it didn't do that. The Hair mask actually went on my hair really smoothly and was a nice creamy consistency.
While, I worked the product into my hair it just felt really good, made hair did NOT feel stiff or dry, it felt really slippery and soft.
I left the mask on overnight with a plastic cap and hair bonnet.
And after rinsing the Cocoa-Coffee Rhassoul Hair mask out, my hair felt like butter. Soft, manageable, and moisturized.

STAPLE? YES...YES...YES!

You can NOW begin placing orders online!!Cocoa-Coffee Rhassoul Hair Mask Purchase NOW!!

Hair color? Yay or Nay?

Hey everyone!!

I am in such a rut...I want to color my hair brighter. I love the henna, but I want to try something different, brighter, and easier. Also, a better smell and less mess. Okay...okay, I digress.

I really love the benefits of Henna, because it helped make my hair stronger, elongate my coils, and give them bounce. I love that Henna is natural and provides a shake up in my routine.

On another note, Henna is stinky, leaves a disgusting residue in my tub and can cause a drying affect.

When I was relaxed, I use a lifter and did all types or reds, browns, and honey browns. I stopped using rinses in my hair about 2 years after giving birth; 2008.
I stopped because I got tired of breakage from the lifter and not giving my hair a rest.

Now, I am Natural and am afraid when I color my hair I will not be natural because I've changed my natural hair color by using a chemical process. I am also afraid of losing my texture and that is NOT an option.

Next, problem...
I have used Henna and so many color systems state if you have used Henna it may cause an allergic reaction....is this because of the group of people who use Henna because they are allergic to ingredients in hair color systems? Or is this just for anyone who uses Henna?

I wanted to try the Shea moisture system, but its not available in my area. Secondly, I want a brighter auburn than I've seen done by YouTube'ers.

I am thinking about the Garnier Fructis Olia system- Light Auburn.
Or Clairol Natural Instincts.

IF YOU HAVE ANY OPINIONS or REVIEWS please do leave below! Thank You!!

*this was published LATE* hair colored in Feb. then Henna in march...natural hair problems, not satisfied.

Coconut Oil and a Giveaway coming at CHA!! ~ CLOSED~

When I decided to Big Chop, I read EVERYTHING I could within Google search. I read about retaining moisture, finding a regimen, using ALL natural products, and why do this and NOT do that...I was in information OVERLOAD!!!

Getting back to our natural roots is really fun and really difficult, especially if you have NO knowledge of how to deal with your own hair in its natural state. I thought I knew everything there was to know about hair, I mean HELLO, I do have a head full of thick curly/coily/kinky hair! But, there is so much more to it than just shampoo condition and style. You have to first get to know your HAIR PROPERTIES; Density,Porosity and Texture (very important).

Now many people in the natural community have or are working on finding out their hair properties, which can take a while if you aren't seeking professional consultations. But, eventually you will and when you do, the next step comes into play for ladies like me TYPE 4(coily, kinky, and zig-zaggy), which is RETAINING MOISTURE!

For me to retain moisture, initially I did a method of L.C.O. (L-Liquid, C-Cream, O-Oil). This method didn't works as well as the following did, which is L.O.C. When I was using the L.C.O. my hair was ALWAYS losing moisture, it was always dry, and I was beginning to feel like I made mistake...Uh-Oh a mistake with my own hair...YEAH.

I went back to the good ole search engine Google and started looking for women who's curl pattern was similar to mines or close to it. I started reading articles from curlynikki.com and then I would go onto other links from her site gathering lots of info.

Here is where the title of this blog comes into play.

Pre-Poo
Sealing
Detangling
Conditioning
These words all came into play with Oils and one main oil being Coconut Oil. I had no idea of what Coconut Oil was and what it would look like and that it was for my...HAIR?!?!

Eventually, I bought me some Coconut Oil. I wanted to do a Pre-poo and I wanted great slip and ease for detangling. I bought some Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and I received a Free 32oz. Sample!

I was still in the "this ain't gonna work for my hair, watch!" Well I was totally fooled!!

The coconut Oil made detangling my hair, my daughter's hair, and my son's hair, easy as a ever before... Seriously!!! My son's hair is as thick as mines, probably more!

I used it as an hot oil treatment/Pre-Poo, I used it to detangle, I used it for my skin, my face, and to add to other products! I fell in love with this oil. Coconut Oil is my second Staple oil, because JBCO will always have my heart.

But, TROPICAL TRADITIONS GOLD LABEL VIRGIN COCONUT OIL is really awesome due to the process in which they achieve this wonderful oil. You can definitely read about it here : What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

In honor of my Big Chop Anniversary, I will be conducting a giveaway.

The Giveaway will run from March 27th until April 17th 11:59PM!

Protein treatments...Have you used one? Why? Which did you use?

Hey everyone....

I am actually looking for the right answer to this very question. I am reading so much about people's hair  needing protein and why they believe it needs protein, but I am not sure if that is what my hair may need. So, what are the tell-take signs?

- Excessive Breakage
-Dryness
-Limp hair
-Weakness

Which could of happened because of:

- Chemical treatments (example: relaxer)
- Coloring
-No balance of moisture/protein

You can do a test to check if your hair is in need of either, but I am focused on PROTEIN.

These are the steps to follow to check if you need Protein:

Shampoo your hair. The hair should be freshly washed and wet.

Take a strand of your hair and gently STRETCH the hair....If the hair STRETCHES forever and then easily breaks or doesn't break then YOU NEED protein.

Now if the hair stretches and returns to its normal state then you are balanced.

I dyed my hair recently with Garnier Olia Hair color system, but I have noticed breakage, not too much but oddly enough to make me know I need to replace what was removed. I am going to use this in 2 weeks...

Curls Passion Fruit curls control...Review

Kinky-Curly Review...photos and more.

Hey everyone,

So, when I initially went natural a few people talked and raved about the Kinky-Curly custard and the Kinky-Curly come clean.
I am not sure about how others may view some products, but before having any knowledge of the natural hair community, I felt certain products were aimed at specific races and hair textures. So, when I seen the Kinky-Curly campaign ladies I assumed this was not for African american women. Therefore, my urgency to try the products had died!

I have a daughter who's hair texture is very different than mines, she has a looser curl pattern. Using the Hair typing chart, she would be between a 3B/3C. I didn't think this really mattered when it came to hair care products, so, whatever I'd use I definitely allowed my children to use as well.
My first wrong move...

I assumed my daughter had "Good Hair." Once again, because I was uneducated about hair.
My second wrong move...

After trying and trying many different products, all natural and non-natural products, I gave up. I just begun keeping her hair in cornrows and bow-bows with twists.

Well, something clicked in my head and I thought about the campaign ladies for Kinky-Curly. Their hair reminded me of my daughters hair. So, I wanted to try this product all over again.

I recently purchased the entire line.

To say the least I was excited and anxious to try these on my daughters hair.

I started with Kinky-Curly Come Clean Shampoo (smells wonderful, like tangerines), I used the shampoo at her roots and then I allowed the shampoo to run down her hair to clean the rest. I did this once thoroughly.

I followed up with Kinky-Curly Knot Today. I used this to aid in detangling her hair, softening her hair, and conditioning her hair. I did not rinse it out.

After, detangling, I used the Kinky - Curly Curling Custard. I twisted each section and then wrapped it around forming a Bantu knot. And put a Satin Bonnet on her head... Good Night!

RESULTS:

-Dry
-Dull
-Hard Hair

As you can see this is Sa'mani eating her breakfast. This is the following morning, some areas were damp and some were just hard and dry. I figured since she had the custard in her hair she'd be fine, so I let her go to school with it just like this!

End of The Day Results:
-Dry
-Tangled
-Still hard in certain areas (mainly the ends)

Okay...Okay. So, this was only my first try. I don't like to mix other products when I know I am going to review it and when I know I want to see how the entire line works together. I didn't add anything extra, no oil, no hair milk, nothing. This was only the Kinky-Curly Line.

Second Attempt:

I only used the Kinky-Curly Knot Today and a wide tooth comb. I set her hair in Big Box braids and a satin bonnet.

The following morning: Wonderful definition and it was softer than the 1st day. After unraveling ALL her braids, I used some 100% pure Now Foods Grapeseed Oil and some Knot Today in my hands, rubbed them together, and smoothed it over her sections.

For her edges I used the Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste ( WONDERFUL product).

End of The Day Results:
-Soft
-Full
-Defined

Would I buy these products again? NO!!! Why? These products did nothing spectacular that any other cheaper product would do. Do I recommend these products? NO. Why? I have better experiences with Curls products and achieve better results.

What are your thoughts? Have you used the Kinky-Curly line? What were your results?
