M.I.A. due to protective stlying

May 10th, 2012 I decided to get extension box braids. I wanted something to keep my hair protected and to give me length again. I was missing my long locks, but happy to still be on my journey to Healthy hair. As I have my in these braids I use my Wonder six oil mixed with pure coconut oil and apply it to my scalp only. I noticed my scalp can become very dry. I also use Smooth N' Shine Olive and Tea Tree Oil Healthy Scalp Spray. This spray helps to maintain the itch and buildup while I have the braids in.

I removed the extensions in July and allowed my hair 2 weeks of "breathing time." Then on July 10th I had the braids put in again. I love the length I have with my braids and the versatility I have with the braids. I am anxious to remove these braids now and see where my length has grown. I do not plan on using a blow dryer in my hair until my 1 year anniversary. I made this decision when in July I tried to blow dry my hair in a small section and it really wasn't giving me the effect I wanted. So, therefore I will continue to wait.

I am a Hair Junkie and plan on purchasing the Kinky Curly products in September, along with some Curlz products.

These products will be use by my entire family, because we are ALL NATURAL.

Happy Hair journey

I am having a great experience with my decision to big chop, I hae some quirks I need to work out with styling. I want to do a twist out and a braid out soon. Next week I plan on getting wet n wavy box braids and I guess those will stay in until the end of June about 2 months. I know when I would get my hair permed in the past and then get box braids afterwards, when I take the braids out I'd have the lint knot close to where the braids were started and the entire knot with my hair would com out with it. I am beginning to believe it was the fact of me perming my hair and then getting it braided. So being I am natural now, I am hoping for a better outcome.

Current products I am using are:

Shampoo: Shea Moisture Retention

Cowash: Hello Hydration, Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner

Leave-in: Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner, Carol's Daughter Black vanilla or Tui, Smooth 'N Shine Scalp & Breakage Miracle Therapy Leave-In Treatment Conditioner

Deep Treatments: Smooth N Shine Silk fusion sixty second critical Repair, Smooth N Shine olive & Tea Tree oil Deep Recovery Conditioner,Carols' Daughter Tui smoothie

Stylers: Carol's Daughter Marguerite Magic & Healthy Hair Butter, Ampro ProStyl Olive Oil Gel, and Hawaiian Silky

My Hair and its health

This picture is how my hair looked while I was using the FHI Platform series Flat iron.

This is a shot of when I began using the FHI, for the first time.

FHI Platform Series Flat Iron
This is the first use with CHI

This is my Final result- I love how this flat iron has straightened my hair.

I am going through a time in my life where I want to have simplicity, change and comfort. I started reading posts on another site I'm a member of and seen that I wasn't the only person going through this stage in life.
One started with my hair, I look in the mirror right before touching up my roots for a relaxer and stare at my beautiful curls and how pretty they were. So, for years I'd have the idea to stop relaxing my hair and just go natural, but I didn't know how to start, what I'd need, or what it would be like.
I am starting it off by transitioning ( allowing my roots to grow out and leaving my Permed ends until February 2013)!
I began by reading, reading and buying different products that I wanted to use and felt comfortable using, like sulfate free shampoo and organic certified products.
This is only the beginning there will be more to come soon.

Snippet

I have been a writer my entire life. I use writing as a way to express my inner deepest thoughts, ideas and feelings.I'm not sure about anything specific that I want to begin blogging. I'm just going to freelance and hopefully, it'll touch one person and affect their life!
